While I was bowhunting this morning I had a coyote come in and ate something
just 30 yards from me. To much bush and limbs to shoot. Well after he finished
eating he moved straight left of me. I gave a little sqeak sound to get him to stop
but all he did was look up and start walking faster. I was at full draw.

I just received my new Foxpro Spitfire yesterday. Played with it a little. The dog is not really fond of it, will have fun pestering him. How long should you let each call go? If you use and inter' howl should you do it a couple of times or just once? How long between calls? I want to try it for the first time this weekend. Went out after yotes again tonight. I planned on hunting where I got the double on the 16th. It was spitting rain but I figured if anything I would just sit, watch, and hope for one to come out into the field hunting for the evening. Well I made 4 dry stands yesterday and 1 this morning. Took my vacation this week to hunt deer but deer season ended early so now its on to yotes. I did see 2 nice bucks, one this morning was haulin across a field dont know if a yote spooked it but I didnt see anything.

Coyote hunting in the summer

I was wondering what some of you thought about hunting
coyotes in the summer. The ground that I deer hunt on is
hilly with ravines running all through it.
The landowner wants a few coyotes removed if at all possible.
Being that it's hilly and all I was wondering if anyone has hunted
out of a tree stand with the call box out front where the coyote
will pass in front and down wind of you to get to the call.
Plus the landowner has cattle and I would hate to...

I have been pretty pumped about yote hunting this year. The deer and turkey have not been wanting to co-operate so I figured I would try to tame my blood thirst for yotes yesterday evening. I set-up in a hay field sitting on the side of a hill facing a wood lot and a grassy marsh. I know the yotes are around 'cause the farmer has been seeing them almost every day. Since the wind seems to have taken a permanent NE direction, I decided to leave the deer hunting alone and try calling in a yote. I have one bean field that's cut, where I can call with the wind from the NE so at first light I was set up in a fencerow along the west edge of the beanfield ready to call. Just checking. Will and can a coon, take and eat a 3/4 grown cottontail this time of year??? I found the remains of a rabbit in the yard today, and he was one that we used to seeing. All that what was left was a front lg, a back leg and the skin connecting the 2 of them. It may have have been an Owl, . We have no stray dogs here, and only 1 3/4 grown cat that I have seen. Shot this female about 15 min ago. Looked out the back door of the shop and there stands a yote 150 yds away, I thaught it was a fawn at first. Then I turned and ran out to my truck as fast as I could grabbed the gun headed back and dropped her right before she went into a bunch of saplings. She is pretty old her front teeth are wore down a lot. They look totally different with there summer coat.

A guy I work with caught a baby mink this morning. He was opening our gate and a momma and 2 babies took off out of the weeds. He jumped off the forklift and ran after the one and got it. Up until about a week ago I'd never seen any mange in predators around these parts. Then this mangy fox started showing up out behind my house mousing. I shot a bunch of footage of him mousing and then I put him down. I hate to see that. Hopefully I won't start seeing mangy coyotes around here now too.
