Sorry about the longwinded post. Forgot, but the lone handgun was a .223 Rem XP100. Also, there are numerous Reservations in South Dakota that have similer hunting opportunities. I chose Cheyenne River because you can hunt unguided there. Redbud, to the south, requires you to hire an Indian guide, or to hunt an "unguided" area that is set aside.(lots of hunting pressure on that area)I will say though, that you can hire a guide for as little as 25 dollars per day, per hunter in the group. Oh, and in that info packet you can get from the game dept, it lists the sizes of the dogtowns on an individuals property. (towns can run from 5 or 6 acres to 2000 acres) Some landowners charge you hunt, but it was only a dozen or so, maybe a few more, out of the hundreds of landowners on the reservation, and like one of the game wardens on the reservation told me......"why would anyone pay to hunt somewhere when there are tens of thousands of acres that you can hunt free?"
OH........and as a bonus........coyotes abound and the permit to hunt them is pretty cheap.
Any other particular questions I'll be glad to try and answer.
