Locating around here is hit or miss. I don't think I would try to drive and howl to locate coyotes and then when you hear them answer park, get all your stuff ready and walk out to hunt them in the dark. Sounds like a good way to get busted. It's good for locating in the wee hours and then sneaking out to the same area to call in the morning. If you do go out to locate you should use yips in your call. It's been documented in the literature that they answer significantly better to yip-howls or yips than just a howl alone.
