Well........let me think. I never was much a shot with a .22, but my Uncle Jed was pretty good. One day Uncle Jed, cousin Jethrow, and me were a shootin' flies off of honey we had put on a fence post about 100 yards away while we waited on Granny to fix supper. Uncle Jed could wax a fly slicker than possum fat in a skillet, course that was before his eyes went bad and he had to start usin' one of those newfangled things they call a scope. He never did quite catch on to shootin' through a looking glass though.

One other time my cousin John and I were squirrell hunting and there was a hickory nut tree out in a soybean field. John saw this squirrell jump from one limb to another and he leaned on a fence post and took a shot. I estimate the range at 80 yards or there about. I didn't have a range finder back then, and the tree has long been bulldozed out so it's too late to measure the distance now. But John was using an open sighted Marlin .22 lever action. Probably the best shot I can recall. Gosh, time flies! That's been about 35 years ago, and I remember it like yesterday. I think they say at the onstage of Alzheimers that's one of the symptoms. Remembering things years ago clearly and the present.......hmmmm. What was I saying?

And that’s the way it might be………..Until next time, Tooldummy
