This past weekend my dad, my cousin, and myself were outside shooting the breeze. We have a beagle (she is a house dog) that is a little overweight. She has been spayed and ever since she has weighed about 35 lbs. This dog is like no other. You can let her outside and she will sit in one spot for an hour and just watch everything that goes on. While we were outside, she was sitting on our pond damn just watching and waiting for something to chase. Then it happened!! A rabbit came out of some honeysuckles about 50 yards from her. She then did something that I have never saw her do before. Instead of taking off after the rabbit like she normally does, she went into stealth mode. Her eyes never left the target and she got to where she was only taking a step about every 30-45 seconds. She probably stalked this rabbit for 15 to 20 minutes. She finally got to within about 10 yards of it and I guess her adrenaline finally got the best of her and she took off after it. Needless to say with her being the size she is, she is rather slow. As you can imagine the rabbit got away, but it was rather entertaining for all of us. Attached is a picture of her in action.
