Me and Fasteddie went out to his place today and tried our hand at at some of the Steelhead that are running through his creek. Started out with some spawn sacks (pink) but they were just not getting the job done. Eddie brought up the idea of using some rapalas to get some motion and vibration through the water and we gave it a try. I put on a big bright orange shallow diver and managed to hook into this 6.5lb male. Good idea, Eddie!! He put up a pretty decent fight.
Eddie had one follow his lure in but for some reason it did not commit and strike at it. They are quite the finiky little fish. MUCH different than the river fishing for cats, dogs, and carp that I am used to. Even River Northern Pike.
I am not much of a fisherman for these species and have never had much luck with catching them. I sure had a good time tying into this one.
Thanks Eddie. Me, the wife, and the boy are going to eat good.
