Shot a monster today but he made it back to his hole.......... Only it wasn't your typical woodchuck I think it had some kind of special powers or
something. I must not have hit him very good because he took off running, but instead of running to the hole that was 10 feet away he decided to turn and run
straight north through the beans 300 plus yards to a different hole bleeding like crazy the entire way. I've never seen any wild animal lose that much
blood and go that far. As far as im concerned he deserved not to have his picture posted here.

I shot one with the shotgun at 20 yds and he made it 15 yds to its hole bleeding like crazy to. I think he took all the lead to. Another one I shot at 200 yds
it was laying down facing away from me so I aimed center of mass and let it go he jumped up in the air and ran 10 yds to his hole. I must of pulled to the side
a little.. I even missed one 3' away from the muzzle of my gun. I was creeping thru a barn and on the outside of the barn door was a hole. So I poked my
head around the corner and there was one standing right there. So I shot from the hip, but there was a piece of 1" pipe sticking out from the weeds. So
needless to say I put a nice hole in the pipe. Have you ever heard one whistle?? I have only heard one other one do it besides the one the otherday. I had
someone tell me that they do it when they are scared kind of a warning noise. I recorded the one the other day on my phone. The sound reminds me of the
second note in a bob white quail call. Just a quick whistle that getts a little higher at the end.

I need to make a tripod for my camera. I only have 10 seconds on the auto pic setting and if the camera moves well I gotta do it again. Just a bad pic. These
make 35 from one property with tons more left.

I've got some pretty good video tape of em whistling someplace. I've heard em do it several times. They tend to do it most often when there's others around who need to be warned.

I think i've been whistled at 5 times this year, and every time it was when there were little ones involved so i would definately say it's a
communication thing. Lets hope so anyways cause it surely isn't very intimidating.

Whistling at them might work to get them to stand up in a bean field for a shot. Have to try it when the time comes.

I do that alot, it works most of the time but every now and again you'll get one that doesn't care to look and just bolts.
