The first I would like to share is for home made laundry soap that my daughter Elyse discovered. We've been using this in our house for about a month now, and we really like it. She hasn't figured up exactly how much it costs per load of wash, but she thinks about three cents. You can use whatever soap you want. For a non cented soap for hunting, I suppose Ivory might work. I really don't know about that. But regardless, here is her recipe. It takes about ten minutes to make.
Put grated soap into boiling water (enough water to cover soap) and stir until all soap is melted
In a 5 gallon bucket put in 2 cups of borax, 2 cups of Arm and Hammer washing soda and melted soap. Stir. Add 2 gallon of hot water and stir until mixture is combined.
Let sit for 12 hours. Soap will gel. When ready to use, stir mixture each time before use. Use 1/4 cup of soap per load of laundry.
For easier storing, you can put mixture into empty laundry soap containters, fill only half of the bottle with the mixture, and then fill the other half with water. Shake each time before using.
Note: The mixture will not produce suds like other laundry soaps do. Suds do not matter, because that is not what cleans the clothes.
I found the borax and washing soda at an area grocery store.
